The Spring Season is Right Around the Corner! RSVP Best Practices

As we are about to head into the Spring season, we encourage you to support your LYS volunteer coaches/managers and take a couple minutes to RSVP for ALL practices and activities on your child’s Playmetrics schedule.

The “secret sauce” at LYS is our volunteer army of coaches and team managers. Our philosophy is informed by the belief that the volunteer-coach model is preferable to a pay-to-play approach with hired coaches.

Our volunteers combine their personal love of sport with a strong motivation to continuously improve as coaches and as mentors, and they have an intrinsic desire to put the well-being of players first. Volunteers bring years of experience, knowledge and expertise from diverse professional, athletic and personal backgrounds. They create positive, creative learning environments in which our players can experiment, take risks, make mistakes, and further develop their love of the game. We sometimes joke that no club has the budget to pay our coaches what they are actually worth (kidding not kidding).

Best Practices for a PlayMetrics RSVP

  • Unless you have received other instructions from your team please mark: Attending, Not Attending, Partial, or Injured.
  • The “?” response is the default and Coach’s interpret the “?” as you have not yet rsvp’d
  • If you don’t know your player’s availability please mark “Partial” and accompany with an “Add Note” explanation (i.e. We may be out of town that weekend but will update status by March 30th)
  • If you are marking Partial, Not Attending, or Injured it helps coaches if you provide context by using the “Add Note” feature
  • We know that life happens and sometimes players need to change their status. If you are changing your player’s status for a game please always also email or text the coach. If the change in status is within the 48 hours of the game please double check that the coach has received your message (i.e. an email the morning of a game is not enough).

Huge thanks to our volunteer coaches who are extremely generous with their time in guiding the development of our collective kids. If we all proactively RSVP to all the practices/games/events it will save our volunteers hours of added work.

Be Kind, Have Fun, Play Hard!
