LYS exists to support our kids and create a sense of community on the soccer pitch. Foot skills are important but not at the expense of playing with friends and having fun.
LYS works to find a balance between pure recreational soccer and year-round, competitive soccer. We encourage multi-sport athletes. Also, by employing coaching mentors to support our parent volunteers, we keep the program affordable relative to other competitive clubs.
LYS supports parent volunteer coaches to help our kids in these formative years. Beyond the soccer tactics, the life tactics of teamwork, goal setting, and sportsmanship will stay with them forever. Our parent coaches from the community are the best qualified to support our kids on their journey.
Lincoln Youth Soccer (LYS) is a community soccer club offering Recreational and Select Team opportunities to youth from the neighboring communities around Lincoln High School.
LYS was founded in 2015 on a model to embrace the recreational game while also offering a parent-coached competitive league option. This unique model allows LYS kids to play competitive soccer with neighborhood friends without the year-long commitments. LYS’ model contradicts the all-or-nothing, year-long competitive programs taking over youth sports and driving down participation rates.
The LYS Program consists of the following Recreational and Select programs:
Kindergarten – 5th Grade Recreational Soccer Clubs
Middle School Recreational Soccer Club
Select Team Programs
The Recreational Programs participate in the Portland Youth Soccer Association (PYSA) and the Select Programs participate in the Oregon Youth Soccer Association Timbers/Thorns league.
LYS exists because of the volunteers supporting the LYS community. Critical roles we are always looking to fill include:
