Introducing Lincoln FC: The Next Chapter for LYS

Introducing Lincoln FC

New Name. New Look. Same Community, Mission & Club

As the Oregon youth soccer ecosystem has been changing, our club has been steadfast in its commitment to putting players and families first. This can be
seen in:
– Our player-centric approach that prioritizes development and growth of both the player and person
– Our amazing community of players, families and coaches that nurture, in our collective children, a lifelong love of sport, athletics, and the beautiful game
– Our club’s choice to continue with OYSA, a league organization that focuses on inclusivity, accessibility and local high-level competition as opposed to the cost and interstate/regional travel demanded by other leagues.

This spring we have been exploring ways to further improve the experience for club players & families.

We are excited to announce that going into the 2026-2027 season, our organization will evolve our club name from Lincoln Youth Soccer to Lincoln FC.

This transition to our new club name will include updated branding and new uniforms.

For the past 10+ years, our club has proudly operated as Lincoln Youth Soccer. During that time the club has been:
– A leader in player and person development. Relentlessly prioritizing the needs and well-being of our players and families
– Inclusive in welcoming players and families of varying backgrounds and playing experience
– Committed to providing readily available financial aid with a track record of never once turning down a request for assistance
– Repeatedly recognized for its excellent coaching with three coaches earning OYSA Competitive Coach of the Year Awards and Administrators/Volunteers also earning statewide honors
– A springboard for our girls and boys players who have excelled in ODP, the Timbers Academy, high school varsity programs, and college soccer
– A home for high level teams that have won OYSA’s most competitive leagues and numerous titles including Founders Cups and Presidents Cups as well as advancing as far as the semis and finals of the State Cup

New Name. New Look. Same Community, Mission and Club.
Thank you for trusting us with your child’s soccer experience and being part of this journey with us.

The Lincoln FC Lifestyle

Lincoln FC is unique, different by design, and we want to lean into that with our branding. A look that reflects our success on the pitch, amplifies our expertise in player and person development, and celebrates our tremendous community.

The process was intensive and we were fortunate as a community to get input, ideas and designs from some of the brightest minds in the field of branding
and design. In collaboration with our working group we engaged former Timbers/Thorns Creative Director Damien Webb for logo/badge/brand design.

The Story Behind the Badge

Our club has its roots in the West Hills with our four satellite rec soccer clubs connected by the trails of Forest Park. Vista to Hillside to Forest Heights to
Skyline. Trails adorned by thriving nature including Oregon’s native Dogwood Tree and its vibrant flowers. The Dogwood flower was a natural choice for our LFC logo for several reasons:

– The four petals represent our four affiliated rec soccer programs coming together and propelling LFC

– The vibrant flower represents the uniqueness, specialness and potential of each and every player

– The flower is also representative of the idea that if you create the right sports ecosystem, and architect a positive learning environment, children will blossom

Next Generation LFC Uniforms

As we transition into the Lincoln FC era, we are excited to unveil our new match uniforms and training kits.

A uniform is more than just the shirt and shorts on your back when you take the field. It reflects who we are as a club and can give players a look they can
take pride in. When you feel confident, you play confident.

Over the last few years, there has been a strong interest from players and families in transitioning to new uniforms. The 2026-2027 season is marked by
change and it felt like a natural time to pursue a uniform redesign.

The decision to make a shift to new Nike uniforms was not taken lightly. Here are some factors that were considered:
– We were coming to the end of our uniform cycle with Adidas and were going to have to make a decision about the next iteration of uniforms
– Outside of joining the club, or outgrowing a uniform, we have not asked families to purchase new uniform kits in almost a decade.
– Due to our location we have a lot of Nike families involved in all aspects of the club
– While Nike is a global brand it was born and bred in Oregon.
– Players and families have voiced a desire for updated uniforms
– These Nike kits will pair well with Nike sweats, hats, jackets that players/coaches/families already own. Tursi can put LFC branding on your
items for a small fee.
– Nike provided LFC with a very competitive partnership agreement that includes funds that can be used by families if the price of uniforms is prohibitive/uncomfortable
– We want the players to be excited about their jerseys, take pride wearing them around even outside of practice/games, and get a ton of use out of
them.
– We think the kits are fire!

These uniforms represent the beginning of a new chapter for our players. When our teams take the field in the new uniforms this fall, we hope they can
take pride in being part of Lincoln FC and are excited about the future.

The estimated cost of new kits is as follows:
LFC Developmental U8-U10 New Kit $84 (old uniform $62)
LFC Competitive U11-U19 New Kit $195 (old uniform $112)

Many clubs and programs require that players purchase uniform and gear packages which end up costing between $300 and $500. LFC does not do so.
Additional items are available for purchase but completely optional. And as mentioned above, Tursi will put LFC branding on Nike items you already own
for a small fee.

LYS “Retro” Gear

We know that many families may want to hang on to, and keep rocking, their retro LYS gear. That said, if there are uniforms and gear that you are ready to part with we have a collaboration with Kalabash Academy, a 501(c)(3) that operates educational and soccer academies in West Africa. We plan to schedule a gear donation event, to collect LYS “retro” gear, in the coming months.

Next Steps & Other Info

Here’s a timeline for the transition:

  • New uniforms are estimated to be available for purchase at Tursi in early June.
  • The clubwide transition to Lincoln FC (LFC) branding will begin later this month, with most visible changes starting in June (PlayMetrics, website, signage, communications etc.).
  • You will start to see Lincoln FC/LFC verbiage in communications and club names, starting with 2026-2027 team names.
  • The new uniforms will have a lifecycle of several years, through the end of the decade.
  • New uniforms will be used for games, and competitive age group training, starting this summer.

The above changes are motivated by the desire to continue to improve the soccer experience for our club’s children and families. We hope that all of you will be as excited as we are about this next chapter in our club’s story.

Frequently Asked Questions

When does the new brand officially launch?

We are starting the transition now. You will see Lincoln FC/LFC wording in communications, emails, and team invites for next season. Over the next few months, you will see us transition our branding on digital platforms, registration systems, and league competition as we move fully into the Lincoln FC era.

We expect the brand transition to continue throughout the summer as we head into the fall seasons as Lincoln FC.

What happens with our old uniforms?

If you want to hang onto and keep rocking the “retro” LYS gear, go for it! We are also collaborating with Kalabash Academy, a 501(c)(3) that operates educational and soccer academies in West Africa, to collect old soccer and LYS gear. We will be scheduling a gear donation event in the coming months.

Are we required to buy new uniforms?

We will be transitioning our Developmental, Competitive, and LYS Rec teams into the new Lincoln FC uniforms this summer. We kindly ask that everyone purchase the new uniform.

As an organization, we have not asked families to purchase a new uniform kit in over a decade. This new iteration of the uniform will be around for the next several seasons.

What if the cost of uniforms is prohibitive?

Nike provided LFC with a very competitive partnership agreement that includes funds that can be used by families if the price of uniforms is prohibitive/uncomfortable. For families on financial aid, we have added a question to our scholarship form regarding financial assistance for uniforms.

We want to stay true to our belief that competitive soccer should not cost an arm and a leg. Our new Competitive kits are still under $200 and Developmental kits are under $100.

Is leadership or club programming changing?

No. Our leadership team, league participation, programming structure, and coaches remain the same. Program names will remain the same (Developmental, Competitive, Rec). You will see the Lincoln FC/LFC name accompanying these program names instead of LYS.

What should families do right now?

Right now, all families need to do is make sure their player is signed up for the Intent to Play for the upcoming season.

Players will go through Player Placement Days to form teams for the upcoming 2026-2027 season. Additional updates will be shared as we transition to the Lincoln FC brand.

What does this mean for my child?

We hope our players will be just as excited for this next chapter as we are. Players will continue to be coached by parent volunteers, play with their peers, and in their local community. Players will have the same opportunities to compete and grow. Our commitment to player development remains the same.
